2026 Patti Wilder Cobb Championship Meet Details
The Patti Wilder Meet is the annual Cobb County Summer Swim Championship meet where summer league swimmers from all over Cobb County race together. We highly encourage ALL swimmers from our team to enter this meet! Windsor Oaks swimmers who register will be placed in heats with swimmers of similar times—so no one should be intimidated!
Our coaches emphasize fun, team spirit, good attitudes, and personal best times over winning a race. It’s also a great way to experience what year-round swim meets are like!
The only qualification is that the swimmer must be able to swim 1 lap freestyle (25 yards) in under 70 seconds independently (no hanging on the lane rope and no adult assistance getting into the water at the start). There are no other qualifying times for this meet.

- Prelims: Friday, July 17, 2026
- Finals: Saturday, July 18, 2026
The top 3 swimmers in each INDIVIDUAL event (ages 7–18) from the finals session will be eligible to represent Cobb County at the GRPA State Meet.

Patti Wilder relays do NOT qualify for the GRPA Meet - the Cobb County State Team forms relay teams using individual qualifiers.
How to Get a Spot on the Cobb State Team for the GRPA Meet:
- Swimmer or their parent MUST go to the room beside the lobby to commit to the Cobb County team within 30 minutes of results for each individual events being posted, after FINALS, at the Patti Wilder Meet.
- The top 3 finishers to commit (not necessarily the top three finishers) after 30 minutes of results being posted, earn a spot on the Cobb County State Team. Many top swimmers decline due to vacations, other meets, etc.
- Bring a COPY of your swimmer’s birth certificate to the Patti Wilder Meet (keep it in your car). Do not bring the original or ask for a copy to be made on-site.
- Bring a blank check or cash for the state fee (approx. $30)
- Both payment and the copy of the swimmer's birth certificate are required to reserve your spot on the Cobb State team ONLY if/when you are offered a spot which will happen 30 minutes after the results as posted when the event "closes." This is VERY important to give your swimmer the best chance to participate on the Cobb County State Team.
Cobb County State Team Practices - optional but highly encouraged practices will be held on weekday mornings in July at Cobb Aquatic Center. More details will be provided to those who qualify.
Go Dolphins!! 🐬
The State Qualifying Swim Meet for Cobb County Swimmers is named after Patti Wilder.
Patti Wilder could easily be considered the mother of competitive swimming in Cobb County. From 1981 through the 80’s Patti Wilder was involved in organizing and running a swim team program out of a small neighborhood pool. She was part owner of the pool, which also provided swim lessons to feed the swim team membership. The Cobb County Polar bears Swim Team became one of the first Cobb County Year round swim teams. By 1985 Cobb County opened its first indoor aquatic center. The Polar bears were relinquished to Cobb County along with other county-based swim teams that would practice at the Cobb Aquatic Center (now known as Central Aquatic Center). Eventually, the Cobb County Swim Team became the Cobb Stingrays and was turned over to a parent non-profit group to run in 1992. During these years, Patti Wilder worked at the Central Aquatic Center and was placed in charge of the Cobb County Summer Swim League program. Patti ran this very successful program until she retired in 2005. Each season concludes with a State Qualifying Meet. Swimmers qualifying at this meet become Cobb County’s Summer Swim League’s team that represents the County at the Georgia Parks and Recreation Association State Championship Swim Meet. Unfortunately, Patti passed away in the Spring of 2007. In honor of her life-long commitment to Cobb County swimming and development of the Summer Swim League, Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs department has named the State Qualifying Swim Meet the “Patti Wilder State Qualifying Swim Meet”.
